Stolen crypto is sometimes possible to recover, and often it is not. The honest answer depends on where the Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, or USDC went after it left your wallet.

When recovery is more realistic

Recovery is more realistic when the stolen funds are still sitting on a centralised exchange, for example Binance, or when they are held as stablecoins such as USDT or USDC. In those situations the holding can sometimes be frozen. After a freeze, funds can sometimes be returned, and some stablecoin issuers can block a transfer or re-issue tokens. A blockchain tracing report is what shows whether that path exists.

Forensic tracing may be carried out by separate firms: AI Data Intelligence and its teams at EthGuardians and Blockchain Legal Solutions. A mandate with Swiss Lawmakers does not by itself instruct those firms. A tracing report can show whether stolen coins are still moving, or whether they are sitting at an exchange.

When recovery is unlikely

Recovery is unlikely when the coins have been cashed out, mixed until the trail breaks, or left in a private wallet that no exchange controls. A police report is still worth making. It does not, by itself, bring the coins back.
